My grandparents hosted the Winsors regularly at Bull Run Plantation. I have also heard wonderful things about them. One of my favorite stories is my grandmother taking wallis to my moms farm to swim in the “pool” which was a blow up pool. Grandmother was mortified! (my mom just told her she had a pool with a deck around it, lol!). The Winsors were perfectly comfortable swimming and enjoying an afternoon cocktail floating in the 50 dollar blowup pool. A sign of true class if you ask me.

Her shoes tell the story of what Imelda really is. Would any sane, or rational ordinary person want 3,000 pairs of shoes? If she wore one pair a day, it would have taken her roughly 9 years to to through the whole shebang. And then she wouldn’t be able to wear them again because by then they would be outdated and out of style. But why hold on to them? Why would she not give them away? BECAUSE THESE SHOES WERE HER NEW SYMBOL OF AFFLUENCE, THE SYMBOL THAT WOULD DRIVE AWAY MEMORIES OF PRIVATION.

Charlie’s daughter ( Martha Elizbeth Mulhall Stolarz Maguire ) was my grandmother. Money was never an issue for the woman, she was born in it and had plenty without remarrying for more. how shallow for someone to try to make an image of her as a gold digger when she lived a life full of such dignity, class, and poise. Conspiracy theory guy, get real.

Even with all the distasteful things that she has done as a person, Queen Mary guided the British people through difficult times. Her firm belief in duty also saved the British Monarchy from demise. The British saw her as a pillar of their nation, especially during the abdication crisis.
